Ingredients
Scale
Garlic Butter
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter (softened)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped)
Steak and Shrimp
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for grilling)
- 2 New York Strip Steaks
- 1 teaspoon Salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Pepper (to taste)
- 1 pound Shrimp (deveined)
Instructions
- Preparation: Ensure all ingredients are prepped; the butter should be softened, garlic minced, and parsley chopped for the compound butter.
- Make Compound Butter: In a bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter with minced garlic and chopped fresh parsley until well mixed. Place the compound butter in the refrigerator to chill while preparing the steaks and shrimp.
- Preheat Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan on high heat until very hot to achieve an optimal sear on the steaks.
- Prepare Steaks: Pat the New York strip steaks dry with paper towels. Lightly brush them with olive oil, then season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Grill Steaks: Place steaks on the hot grill and cook for approximately 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, targeting an internal temperature of 130-135°F. Once done, transfer steaks to a plate and spread half of the garlic butter over them. Allow the steaks to rest for 5-10 minutes to retain juices.
- Cook Shrimp: In the same pan or grill, melt the remaining garlic butter over medium heat. Season the deveined shrimp with salt and pepper. Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and opaque.
- Toss and Serve: Toss the grilled shrimp in the melted garlic butter for extra flavor. Serve the garlic butter shrimp alongside the rested garlic butter steaks for a perfect Valentine’s dinner.
Notes
- Ensure steaks rest after grilling to keep meat juicy and tender.
- Adjust cooking times depending on steak thickness and preferred doneness.
- Use fresh parsley for best flavor in the compound butter.
- Can substitute New York strip with ribeye or filet mignon if preferred.
- Make sure shrimp are deveined and peeled for easy eating.
- Serve with side dishes like roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
