Description

A delicious and romantic Valentine’s dinner featuring perfectly grilled New York strip steaks and garlic butter shrimp. This quick and easy recipe combines tender, medium-rare steak with succulent shrimp coated in a flavorful garlic butter parsley sauce, making it an impressive yet simple meal to prepare in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Butter

  • 1 stick Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (chopped)

Steak and Shrimp

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for grilling)
  • 2 New York Strip Steaks
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 pound Shrimp (deveined)

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Ensure all ingredients are prepped; the butter should be softened, garlic minced, and parsley chopped for the compound butter.
  2. Make Compound Butter: In a bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter with minced garlic and chopped fresh parsley until well mixed. Place the compound butter in the refrigerator to chill while preparing the steaks and shrimp.
  3. Preheat Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan on high heat until very hot to achieve an optimal sear on the steaks.
  4. Prepare Steaks: Pat the New York strip steaks dry with paper towels. Lightly brush them with olive oil, then season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  5. Grill Steaks: Place steaks on the hot grill and cook for approximately 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, targeting an internal temperature of 130-135°F. Once done, transfer steaks to a plate and spread half of the garlic butter over them. Allow the steaks to rest for 5-10 minutes to retain juices.
  6. Cook Shrimp: In the same pan or grill, melt the remaining garlic butter over medium heat. Season the deveined shrimp with salt and pepper. Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, until they turn pink and opaque.
  7. Toss and Serve: Toss the grilled shrimp in the melted garlic butter for extra flavor. Serve the garlic butter shrimp alongside the rested garlic butter steaks for a perfect Valentine’s dinner.

Notes

  • Ensure steaks rest after grilling to keep meat juicy and tender.
  • Adjust cooking times depending on steak thickness and preferred doneness.
  • Use fresh parsley for best flavor in the compound butter.
  • Can substitute New York strip with ribeye or filet mignon if preferred.
  • Make sure shrimp are deveined and peeled for easy eating.
  • Serve with side dishes like roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
