Description

A revitalizing and immune-boosting homemade ginger shot made with fresh ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, coconut water, and a touch of honey. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a daily health tonic, offering a refreshing and tangy burst of flavor that wakes up your senses and supports well-being.

Ingredients

Scale

Primary Ingredients

  • 4 oz (110g) fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric or 1 oz fresh turmeric
  • 2 medium lemons, juiced (approximately 55g juice)
  • 1 ½ cups (12 oz or 345g) coconut water
  • 1 tbsp (20g) honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp Celtic sea salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prep the ginger and lemon: Thoroughly wash the ginger root to remove any dirt. Peeling is optional as the mixture will be strained later. Juice the lemons, ensuring you have about 55 grams of fresh lemon juice.
  2. Blend the shots: Combine the fresh ginger, turmeric (ground or fresh), lemon juice, coconut water, honey or maple syrup, Celtic sea salt, and a pinch of black pepper in a high-speed blender. Start blending on low speed and gradually increase to medium-high. Continue blending for a total of 2 minutes to fully incorporate all ingredients.
  3. Strain and store: Using a nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve, strain the blended mixture into a clean bowl or wide-mouth jar to remove pulp and fibers. Transfer the strained ginger shot liquid into a glass jar. Store it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Serve 2 oz per shot for a refreshing health boost.

Notes

  • Peeling ginger is optional since the mixture is strained; washing thoroughly is sufficient.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or maple syrup to taste.
  • Use a nut milk bag for a smoother shot, but a fine mesh sieve works as well.
  • Store the ginger shots in the refrigerator and consume within one week for the best freshness and potency.
  • Fresh turmeric offers a more vibrant flavor but ground turmeric works well as a substitute.
