Description

This Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes Skillet is a delicious and easy one-pan meal featuring tender sirloin steak cubes and crispy baby potatoes cooked to perfection in a rich garlic butter sauce, garnished with fresh parsley and thyme for a flavorful dinner in just 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Potatoes

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 lb baby potatoes, halved
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the Potatoes: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the halved baby potatoes. Season them with salt and black pepper. Cook for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown on the outside and tender inside. Once cooked, remove the potatoes from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Sear the Steak: To the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sirloin steak cubes and season with salt and black pepper. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side until well browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the unsalted butter, minced garlic, and chopped fresh thyme to the skillet. Stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until the butter is fully melted, and the garlic becomes fragrant, infusing the sauce with rich flavor.
  4. Combine and Toss: Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet with the steak and garlic butter sauce. Toss everything together gently to coat the steak and potatoes evenly in the sauce and allow flavors to meld.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the dish. Serve the garlic butter steak and potatoes immediately while hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use baby potatoes for quicker cooking and a tender, creamy interior.
  • Adjust seasoning according to your taste preferences, especially salt and pepper.
  • For extra flavor, rest the steak cubes for a few minutes after searing before combining them with the potatoes.
  • If you prefer steak cooked more thoroughly, increase the searing time slightly.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled to serve more people.
