Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Potatoes
- 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 lb baby potatoes, halved
Sauce and Seasonings
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the Potatoes: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the halved baby potatoes, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for 12-15 minutes until they become golden brown and tender. Once cooked, remove the potatoes from the skillet and set them aside.
- Sear the Steak: Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the same skillet. Place the sirloin steak cubes into the skillet, season them with salt and black pepper, and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a nice brown crust.
- Make Garlic Butter Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the unsalted butter, minced garlic, and chopped fresh thyme to the skillet. Stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and the butter melts fully, infusing the sauce with flavor.
- Combine Steak and Potatoes: Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet. Toss everything together to ensure that both the steak and potatoes are well coated in the flavorful garlic butter sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for a fresh, vibrant finish. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- You can substitute sirloin steak with ribeye or flank steak for a different texture and flavor.
- Use baby red potatoes or Yukon gold for best results; larger potatoes should be quartered to cook evenly.
- For extra crispiness on potatoes, you can finish them under the broiler for 2-3 minutes after cooking.
- Make sure to not overcrowd the skillet when searing steak to ensure even browning.
- Fresh herbs like thyme and parsley add brightness but can be replaced with rosemary or oregano if preferred.
