Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (Melted)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Add-ins
- 1/2 cup Christmas Sprinkles (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease and flour a standard 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk well for about 30 seconds to evenly distribute all the dry ingredients.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, large eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
- Combine wet and dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold them together with a spatula or spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
- Fold in sprinkles: Gently fold in most of the Christmas sprinkles into the batter, reserving about a tablespoon or two for topping the bread.
- Fill loaf pan and add sprinkles: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, then sprinkle the reserved Christmas sprinkles evenly over the top of the batter.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 65 minutes. Check around the 50-minute mark by inserting a wooden skewer or toothpick into the center; if it comes out clean, the bread is done.
- Cool the bread: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to avoid a dense bread texture.
- Use fresh Christmas sprinkles for the best color and texture.
- Make sure the melted butter is cooled slightly so it doesn’t cook the eggs when mixed.
- This bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
- To refresh the bread, warm slices in a toaster or oven before serving.
