Ingredients
Scale
Beef Roast
- 1 beef roast
Stuffing
- 200 grams chestnuts, cooked and chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon rosemary, chopped
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for roasting the beef roll.
- Sauté Aromatics: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the finely chopped onions and minced garlic until they become translucent and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
- Prepare Stuffing: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked and chopped chestnuts with the sautéed onions and garlic, fresh thyme, chopped rosemary, breadcrumbs, and the beaten egg. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper and mix well to create a cohesive stuffing.
- Assemble Roast: Lay the beef roast flat on a clean surface and evenly spread the stuffing mixture across the surface, ensuring full coverage for flavor in every bite.
- Roll and Secure: Carefully roll the beef tightly into a cylindrical shape, enclosing the stuffing inside. Use kitchen twine to securely tie the roll at intervals to maintain shape during cooking.
- Roast Beef: Place the stuffed beef roll in a roasting pan and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1.5 hours, or until the beef reaches the desired level of doneness (internal temperature about 60-65°C for medium-rare to medium).
- Rest and Serve: Remove the roast from the oven and allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes so the juices redistribute. Remove twine, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh herbs for best flavor but dried herbs can be substituted in smaller amounts.
- Ensure beef roast is properly tied to prevent the stuffing from spilling out during cooking.
- Chestnuts can be roasted or boiled in advance if not pre-cooked.
- Adjust cooking time based on the size and thickness of the beef roast.
- Letting the roast rest before slicing helps retain juiciness.
