Ingredients
Scale
Smoothie Base
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat for creaminess or light for fewer calories)
- 1 ripe banana, peeled
Optional Add-ins
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, can substitute with coconut or almond yogurt for vegan)
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional, especially if using fresh cherries)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and pit fresh cherries if using fresh; if using frozen cherries, take them straight from the freezer. Peel the banana and gather all ingredients including coconut milk, yogurt, sweetener, and vanilla extract to have everything ready for blending.
- Blend Cherry and Coconut Base: Add the pitted cherries, coconut milk, and banana into the blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, ensuring there are no cherry pieces left for a silky texture.
- Add Yogurt and Sweetener: Pour in the Greek yogurt along with the vanilla extract. Add honey or maple syrup to taste if desired. Blend briefly just to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Final Blend with Ice: Add ice cubes to the blender to chill the smoothie. Blend carefully to crush the ice while maintaining a thick and creamy consistency, avoiding over-blending which can water down the smoothie.
- Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into glasses and enjoy immediately for the freshest flavor and best texture.
Notes
- Use full-fat coconut milk for a creamier smoothie or light coconut milk to reduce calories.
- Swap Greek yogurt for plant-based yogurt to make the smoothie vegan-friendly.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey or maple syrup according to preference.
- Use frozen cherries to avoid adding ice cubes and keep the smoothie cold naturally.
- Consume immediately for best taste and to retain nutritional benefits.
