Description

A refreshing and creamy Cherry Coconut Smoothie combining the natural sweetness of cherries and banana with the tropical flavor of coconut milk. This quick and easy smoothie is perfect for a nutritious breakfast or a healthy snack, featuring optional Greek yogurt for added creaminess and protein. Sweetened lightly with honey or maple syrup, it’s a delicious way to enjoy a vibrant, fruity treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Smoothie Base

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat for creaminess or light for fewer calories)
  • 1 ripe banana, peeled

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, can substitute with coconut or almond yogurt for vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional, especially if using fresh cherries)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and pit fresh cherries if using fresh; if using frozen cherries, take them straight from the freezer. Peel the banana and gather all ingredients including coconut milk, yogurt, sweetener, and vanilla extract to have everything ready for blending.
  2. Blend Cherry and Coconut Base: Add the pitted cherries, coconut milk, and banana into the blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, ensuring there are no cherry pieces left for a silky texture.
  3. Add Yogurt and Sweetener: Pour in the Greek yogurt along with the vanilla extract. Add honey or maple syrup to taste if desired. Blend briefly just to combine all the ingredients evenly.
  4. Final Blend with Ice: Add ice cubes to the blender to chill the smoothie. Blend carefully to crush the ice while maintaining a thick and creamy consistency, avoiding over-blending which can water down the smoothie.
  5. Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into glasses and enjoy immediately for the freshest flavor and best texture.

Notes

  • Use full-fat coconut milk for a creamier smoothie or light coconut milk to reduce calories.
  • Swap Greek yogurt for plant-based yogurt to make the smoothie vegan-friendly.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey or maple syrup according to preference.
  • Use frozen cherries to avoid adding ice cubes and keep the smoothie cold naturally.
  • Consume immediately for best taste and to retain nutritional benefits.
